Edit - April 23, 2020 : Updated numbers to reflect current beer count

With the sudden disruption in the retail landscape due to COVID-19, many Ontario breweries have had to quickly pivot how they sell beer. Many breweries are shifting their offerings to online stores, offering beer for delivery directly to consumers. Beer Finder brings a large number of these breweries and their beer offerings into a searchable online directory.

Beer Finder visitors can search for Ontario beers by style, ingredients, delivery location, and other keyword filters. Once a visitor has found the beers they would like to order, they can make a purchase from the brewery’s website, supporting Ontario brewers directly. Beer Finder’s directory is updated frequently, so visitors can check back regularly and stay up-to-date with the latest beer releases, using the directory as their primary way to find Ontario craft beers.

“In all honesty, I just wanted a way to find out who has milkshake IPAs without having to go to every brewery's website one by one. That made me think—there are probably dozens of us that have the exact same problem. Especially now, when direct delivery is the best and safest option.” — Cam Sloan

Beer Finder is the indirect result of the current pandemic forcing the layoffs of a beer-loving web developer and a beer industry professional. “In all honesty, I just wanted a way to find out who has milkshake IPAs without having to go to every brewery's website one by one.” says Cam Sloan, creator of Beer Finder. “That made me think—there are probably dozens of us that have the exact same problem. Especially now, when direct delivery is the best option.”

It didn’t take long to find someone who could relate. Dan Kaufman, a beer industry worker and long-time friend of Cam’s jumped at the opportunity to help solve this problem. “Supporting the beer industry is crucial right now,” says Kaufman, who worked in the brewing supply side of the beer industry before his pandemic-forced layoff, “so when I found out about this tool, I knew I wanted to help. Let’s connect beer lovers directly with the small businesses that need it the most.”

Ontario is home to hundreds of breweries, many of which are now turning to online sales to keep their businesses afloat. Beer Finder will continue to be updated with more beers, more breweries, and new functionality to keep Ontarians updated on craft beer delivery options.

The Beer Finder team encourages all Ontarians to support local brewers, and to stay safe.
